Patient Daisies 忍耐強いデイジー

This late summer, autumn bloomer
patiently waits to bring its daisies to light,
its strong flowers remain full
until the fingers of frost wither its pedals
with the biting enactment of winter's approach.

Now one week into January
the stalks, leaves and buds
bedraggled, twisted and brown,
yield their offering of seeds to the light,
like a well dressed celebrity walking the carpet.

この夏の終わり、秋に花咲く植物は
デイジーを開花するのを忍耐強く待ち、
冬の到来で身を切るように、
霜の指が花びらを枯らしてしまうまで
力強くいっぱい花咲く。

そして今は一月の最初の週。
茎、葉、芽は
みずぼらしく、曲がり、茶色くなり、
まるで着飾ったセレブリティーがカーペットの上を歩くように
光に向かって種を供えている。
