Hens and Chicks ヘンズ＆チックス

 

Some windows
are larger than others,
and some offer art,
stained glass
crafted painstakingly.

Others yield to the shadow
of plain and ordinary,
while yet others lend
spectacular views,
of Paris, of oceans
of cloud banks on high,
or like the space station's
observation room,
windows sentenced
to exclusive use,
a shame
considering the subjects,
heaven and earth.

Then of course
there are windows of time,
moments that are
or could have been,
opportunities forged
or chances passed,
and nature offers these,
sometimes combining the two,
for here we see
the hens and chicks
in a way that had
never been,
but for serendipity.


ある窓は
他のより大きく
あるものはアートを
きめ細やかにつくられた
ステンドグラスのようだ。

他のものたちは
ただ単につまらない影に
譲るだけ
あるものたちは
素晴らしい眺めを
巴里、海、高いところにある大きな雲
を映しているというのに
或いは宇宙ステーションの
観望室のように
特別なことだけに使われる
ものもある
天と地という対象があるのに
なんと残念なこと。

そしてもちろんそこには
時の窓がある
今このときか、
可能性のあったあの時
機会が築かれた時、
チャンスを失ったとき
自然がこれらをくれた
時によっては２つあわせて。
だってここで
今まで見たことのないような
ヘンズ＆チックスという
素晴らしいものに
偶然に出会えたのだから。
