Sassafras Turning ササフラスの紅葉

Early fall

filled with light

and rain,

these fleeting days

play well to the

angling sun,

that warms

the turning leaves,

fed no more.

  

Yet they in turn

feed our eyes

and warm our hearts,

bringing measured

yearning

for just a sliver more

of a summer lasting,

just now passing.

初秋

光と雨に

満ちる

この束の間の日は、

色変わる葉を

あたためるが

もう葉を養うことのない

傾く太陽と

上手く上演する。

 しかし代わりに

私たちの目を楽しませ

心を温かくさせてくれる、

今過ぎ去ろうとしている

夏があと少しだけ続くよう

熱望させながら。
