The Word from Downtown ダウンタウンからの言葉

 

The word from downtown is that a couple
varieties of flowers, including the
Snow Crocus have appeared in the
Ann Arbor area. We looked hard yesterday,
but saw snow cover mostly.

Professor Tut and his immediate family
all guessed the first flower would appear
near the end of February...but who could
have predicted so much snow.

March is said to either come-in as a Lion
and go out as a lamb,
or come-in as a lamb
and go out as a lion.


This year it is hard to say how March
came-in...it was calm and often
sunny, just above freezing during
the day, but the nights have been
cold and the snow has remained. In
terms of turbulence, I'd have to say
March came in as a lamb, and if the old
saying is true, then maybe we can expect
a bit of a windy storm at the end of March.

We are expecting very warm (8 degrees C)
with sun this weekend...maybe the melting snow
will reveal some flowers in our garden?

何種類かの花がアンアーバーのエリアで
出てきたようです。
昨日一生懸命探してみましたが、
まだ殆ど雪で覆われています。

タット教授と家族は皆
最初の花は2月の終わり頃に
咲くと推測しましたが、
誰がこんなに沢山の雪が降ると想像できたでしょう。

3月は、ライオンのように来て、
子羊のように去っていく、
或いは子羊のように来て
ライオンのように去っていく、と言われています。

今年は3月がどのように来たのか
断定するのが難しいです...静かで、多くの日は
陽が出ていました。日中は氷点下よりちょっと高いくらいでしたが、
夜は寒かったので、雪はずっと残っていました。
乱気流について言えば、3月は子羊のように来て、
そして昔の言い伝えが正しければ、
多分3月の終わりには風の強いストームが
来るかもしれません。

今週末は太陽も出て、
暖かくなるようです（8度)...
もしかしたら雪が溶けて
庭に花を見つけられるかな?
