Pink Cone Flower ピンクのコーンフラワー

The Delphiniums are down - blown flat,
the Sassafras tree has been topped,
shattered by the wind,
but the pink Cone Flower is strong.

デルフィニアムは横倒しになり
ササフラスの木は上をもぎ取られた
風で打ち砕かれて
でもピンクのコーンフラワーは強い。

The January thaw
is in full recital,
with a steady
morning rain
making mirror
out of driveway,
providing pallet
in grey tones
for the Sassafras.

As a youth
I learned
to identify
its leaves,
elliptical,
often with two
and three lobes
joined by aromatic twigs
that smelled fresh
when snapped,
like a spicey rootbeer.


一月の雪どけは

ササフラスのために
グレー調のパレットを
創っている。

楕円形の、
たいていの場合
2つか3つの裂片が
